So I build my brother a pc 5 months ago, it has a r9 290, Fx 6300, 16 gb ddr3 and a gigabyte am3+ ga-78lmt-usb3 with all used parts I had lying around. It worked perfectly until a month ago, my brother was playing overwatch and decided to get off, but he left the pc run in sleep mode. He gets back on and decides to play an hour or so later and he can get in a lobby but when you start to stress the gpu and just black screens and the pc is still running, and if you are in the desktop doing basic tasks for an hour or so it might black screen and come back after 15-45 mins or so. He orders a new hard drive and we try that, same thing, we order a new power supply, same thing, I say “obviously it’s gpu”, use a gpu I know is good, still doesn’t work. So I swap the motherboard and cpu, the motherboard reboots with this one after the black screen, I have tried 100 different new cables and have no idea what is happening. But one thing I do have is that when I update drivers on windows 10 after they are done it doesn’t ask if I want to reboot now or later, I have done 1,000 different driver updates I have completely wiped the gpu drivers still nothing, thanks.

Solution
You may want to turn off ANY settings that put your computer to sleep. Personally my computer acts up a LOT when i let it sleep and return from sleep. As soon as I turn those settings off, my PC has no issues.
