i just installed a new motherboard and cpu (gigabyte H110m-S2h and pentium g4560) swaping from a amd a10 9700 apu and a stock dell mobo. i just got my gigabyte mobo updated so it is compatable with the pentium g4560 but when i finally had it connected up it booted (which it had not previously done before the mobo got updated) and the fans come on but there is no display and it stays on for about 12 seconds then shuts down and then goes into a cycle where it just carries on booting and shutting down , note i am using a 4 pin to 8 pin adapter to power the cpu as my psu only has a 4 pin and 12 pin where as the mobo's cpu power slot is a 4 pin

You don't mention any details about your OS, so I'll assume you are using Windows 10 and have a retail license that can be ported to a new machine.

Disconnect your hard drive. The machine is trying to start using a configuration that is not compatible with your new hardware.

Use the Windows Media Creation Tool to put Windows on a USB drive. Load the drivers (for the new hardware) onto the USB drive as well.

Reinstall Windows from scratch.

Try re-seating your GPU, and try only installing 1 stick of ram, then the other stick if that doesn't change things(assuming you have 2 sticks). I'm also not sure what you mean that you are using a 4pin to 8 pin adapter to power the CPU. Are you saying the MB wants a 12pin and an 8pin? You say it's a 4pin but the pics I see of that board show it as an 8 pin. Can you use 2 4pins or is that what the adapter is?

i have 1 stick of ram which is 8gb and i mean that the motherboard wants an 8 pin plug to power it but my psu which is a cit 480w only has a 4 pin and a 6 pin so i have an adapter which i can use to convert my 4 pin into an 8 pin so it can fully fit in the mobo's cpu power socket

Some of those adapters are designed for a GPU in mind, the pins are setup differently so it wouldn't actually work for a MB. Now to be fair, most are for your MB, but just in case.

Also are you attempting to reach the bios or just letting it load the OS? Since you've switched out your MB and CPU your OS will need to be re-installed so I'm assuming you are trying to get into the bios first so you can choose a new OS drive from a thumbdrive or something like that.
