The more I think about it the more I think you should aim for an i7 (4770, 4770k, 4790, 4790k). Jumping to another quad core i5 might not give you the boost or longevity you may want. Quad cores with no hyper threading are now considered entry level in the current generation.
4770K are good cpus and often overlooked on ebay for the 4790K, and you can get good deals on them if your patient.
z87 Motherboard or z97 Motheboard would permit you to overclock that cpu.
if you have no intentions of overclocking , then 4770 and a H81, B85, H87, H97, P87, Q87, Z87, Z97 are the low-high end motherboards that you can find for your I7-4770 to run just fine.
is your DDR3 ram 1600? or 1866 as it will make a difference in the choice of your motherboard, B, H,Q,P support usually 133 or 1600, where the 1866 Mhz ram normally only support by z87/97 motherboard. this may guide you further in your deliberations.
finally addressing " and if not is it possible for me to overclock my i5 on this motherboard "
I would suggest to READ a lot of overclocking forums, as by my readings (ref below) seemingly that motherboard isn't prone to good overclocking and has tendencies to blow stuff under OC.
