I lost internet on my laptop. It came back with a reboot but in exploring before the reboot i found that the network name (the name that appears after "currently connected to:" on the pop up that appears if you click on the bars icon on the systray) on 2 machines is different.
One is named 'home' and the other is named 'network 3'. In fact the icon on one computer is the bars and on the other the icon is a screen with a connector in front of it. I am guessing the bars reflect a wireless connection, which i also have, but the connection i am referring to is a hardwired connection.

Is this just a labeling difference or have i somehow created 2 different networks? If only labeling how do i change one or the other so they are consistent so i am not confused in the future? (i am forgetful and easily confused)

I seem to be able to connect from one to the other without a problem.
TIA for any insight you can provide.

You can ignore the different network names on your computers - - or you can rename them manually if it bothers you, but unless you are competent doing that I would leave them at their default names & simply ignore them.

Windows simply assigns a number (eg "Network 3") based on the number of network connections previously set up on that PC since the last Windows installation. They make no difference to internet or inter-connectivity between the machines in your network.
