Hi, I was wondering how long the Kingston 120gb A400 would last. It has a 40 TBW. I read it depends on how much data is written per day but I don't know much data I use per day, I mostly use it for YouTube and a little bit of gaming as well as work. Could someone estimate what 30gb of data a day written looks like?
How long have you had it?
What is on it currently?
What is telling you "40TBW"? Because that's actually a lot.
My main system has 5 SSD's, the eldest almost 6 years old. And totaling ALL of them is only 40TBW currently.
"40TBW" basically equals 30GB per day,
every single day, for 3 years.
4 full length movies, maybe. Every day.
The 40TBW number comes from Kingston's own spec, at this page on their website:
https://www.kingston.com/EN/ssd/consumer/sa400s37
The number, as you'd expect, is proportional to the drive capacity for this range. 40TBW to 120GB, 80TBW to a 240GB drive, and so on. I gather there are other factors in this, these drives are dropping in price, and not so different from a USB stick of similar capacity from the same supplier. I doubt any USB stick comes close to this life.
A lot depends on your use, but I doubt I can reach the 30GB/day.
