I have a dell 3500 and have made a lot of upgrades to it. I desperately need a new case, I have a case made of cardboard right now. I am planning on getting the Corsair 750d, but I’ve read that dell has different power button and usb headers. I only have usb 2.0 on my motherboard and this case has both 2.0 and 3.0 USB ports, so I was wondering if it would still work to just use the usb 2.0 header. I also will only use two of the three 3.5” drive bays so I was think about putting the power button inside of my computer now in there so it will start. I need to keep the built in power button because I am planning on getting a new motherboard sometime in the future, but it’s probably going to be at least a few months. I don’t know if it will work since the motherboard also has a bunch of usb and other ports on the back and I don’t know if those will stick out of the case correctly. Please help. Thanks

The Dell T3500 is a modified BTX workstation. Aftermarket cases are ATX. The MB is on the left in the T3500, and on the right in ATX.
The modified BTX part is that the CPU and RAM are on the bottom, and expansion slots above them. Dell uses their own front I/O panel and cabling. It also includes diagnostic LEDs. There is no simple way to do this. basically not a good idea. I would suggest just waiting until you can get parts that match.

^^ that. The T3500 board is a proprietary design. Which makes mounting one in a regular case nearly impossible. In addition to size issues, only three of the screw mounts line up - marked with arrows.

Here is an image comparing T3500 board (red) with typical ATX board (black). ATX was re-oriented so I/O connectors on both boards correspond - lower right.

You are correct in that the Dell board needs special hardware from the case to operate correctly. The case fans, well as the small daughter board where the power button and temps sensor reside. BIOS requires input signals from these.

Your best bet would be to find an empty T3500 case somehow.

? Is eBay available to you?

i was about to post the same question, its been months i was looking for a case for dell T3500 but looks like i'[m stuck with the stock one which is incredibility heavy and very ugly.

It's incredibly heavy because it can be turned sideways and have a big CRTmonitor sitting on it. The front drives can go in sideways with just a trim panel swap. They rack mount also. You could take the front cover off and paint behind it, maybe get the cover powder coated and brighten it up some. Sides can be painted or covered in material. They don't have to stay looking like a 1950's black & white photograph.
