Login to windows vpn via chromebook

Right now im trying to log into a vpn i set up in one household on my windows 10 pc through a chromebook from another house. All i can do is set up a vpn that works from windows to windows, but how can i use that vpn from a chromebook? Should i use a separate program to host and log on to it?

Before answering your question - who is handling the VPN stuff on the "server" side - Windows, or your router? What VPN protocol is being used? Popular choices are OpenVPN, and PPTP.

It's been a while since I had a Chromebook, and can't test it, but here is Google help page about setting up client VPN.
