I have a Windows 7 Emachine that has been offline a while. I am considering bringing it back with a windows seven reinstallation of some sort.

When the computer was failing I was having occasional minor distortion on both the monitor that was connected to a USB external graphics card and from the monitor that was on the onboard graphics card.

Also, the internet was slow. So I bought a new refurbished secondary computer.

Because there were two separate problems and they were on different devices I was wondering if I could get some advice. I would like to bring it back from a hobbyist's perspective!

Thank you, :)

I'd like to help but you're so vague about everything it's difficult to know what kind of help you need. What model computer do you have? Does it have an expansion slot for a videocard? Why were you using a USB external graphics card and what make and model was that? Does this mean that computer does not have a pci-ex slot for a videocard?

Unless a component, or components, are dead then the computer should work. It's an old emachines, so I don't think I'd expect it to work 'fine'. Those were cheap computers when new.
