Hello,

It's been almost 2 years since i'm using a Microsoft Lumia 640 and although it has its own positive aspects, i started hating Windows mobile since i started using discord and my friends started playing mobile games like clash of Clans. either way, i'm not that much into smartphones but i would really like to switch back to Android.

I found two smartphones, the Asus Zenfone Max 3

And the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4:

Comparing the two, they don't seem to have huge differences, but Asus from what i understand has better cameras and a better battery while the other has a FHD screen and an IR sensor if i ever feel badass to change tv channels in bars or clubs. I'm a bit color blind myself and also have eyesight problems so i don't really see a difference in ppi, my lumia has HD on a 5 inch screen and i think it's ok, i almost used ZenUI in a Zenfone 5 or 6 that was released quite a few years ago and i think it has a lot of nice features. Then again, i read that Xiaomi has a really nice community and the customized Android OS they have is really nice.

I am actually looking for advice from someone that used these brands (in smartphones) before and what your opinions would be on the two. I would mostly use this with headphones connected for music, reading and of course discord and other chat app and as for pictures, as before, i would at most, make a few pics with my friend and our farm and that's about it, but i'm not sure, which one would be more reliable at this point.

Thank you in advance, for all your time.

Steven

Hello there,

It actually depends on how you'd like to use your mobile phone. If you're more of a person who's outside most of the time the zenfone max 3 would really help.

Both mobile phone has octacore processors. However, the RedMI wins as it's clocked higher Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 vs the zenfone's Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53.

Processor wise, the RedMI wins again Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 vs Zenfone's Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430

Battery winner is the zenfone. with Non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery compared to RedMI's Non-removable Li-Po 4100 mAh battery. + considering the lower clocked processor of the zenfone, sure is a winner.

Both has bloatware of their own MIUI and ZenUI.

Display sure winner is Xiaomi's...

Display sure winner is Xiaomi's 1080 x 1920 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~401 ppi density) vs Zenfone's 720 x 1280 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~267 ppi density).

Camera on paper they're like identical on the build.

On the overall I'll take redMI note if you want a capable phone. Also, check on your area for how much battery replacement cost for each device. then decide.

Thanks for that. I was really obsessed about the ZenUI, super resolution camera feature and battery life. Then i just added a bit more money and got a Xiaomi Mi A1 the 64GB version and you are right, screen resolution does make a difference.
