Hey guys! It's been some time now, but here I am on my second ever PC build, 5 years after my first. I wanna make this thing pretty heavy on the graphical processing power, not terribly interested in multiple monitors. Thinking about running it on my 4k TV in my living room. I would like to do liquid cooling, but it looks like custom loops run up to $800. Are there any alternatives or compromises I can make?

Approximate Purchase Date: this week

Budget Range: $2500-3000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, eventual audio editing and digital art

Are you buying a monitor: Maybe. I have a 50" 4k Hisense smart TV I was debating on using instead

Do you need to buy OS: I'm not sure...I had Windows 10 for my old gaming rig, but I sold it last year and I don't think I wrote down the product key or anything

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg or Amazon

Location: Franklin, PA 16323

Parts Preferences: Intel/Nvidia definitely. I've had good experiences with Corsair and Samsung parts as well, but I'm open.

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Not likely

Your Monitor Resolution: 4k TV. If I buy a monitor, it'll be 1440p

Additional Comments: I definitely want to do liquid cooling, but I'm nervous because I haven't done it before. I think I'd like to get a kit with transparent tubing - maybe toss in a small black light somewhere in the case and have a coolant that shines in black light.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: it's been far too long since I've been able to do gaming. The time has come!

Nice choices, this is going to be a great system!

Some thoughts/questions

- It's sounding like you're thinking CUSTOM liquid cooling? If so, welcome to the club! It's a great hobby and well worth the effort. A good start is to head over to www.ekwb.com and use their configuration tool. It'll give you an idea of what you'll need, and then we can take it from there to add parts for your drain port etc. Maybe get a starting list, and post them here. If you're thinking AIO liquid cooling, ignore everything I just said.

- SLI is debatable. In MOST cases it's a better idea to just get a single 1080 Ti. Probably the deciding factor will be what monitor you end up getting. If it's a high refresh rate 4K monitor, then SLI becomes a viable (and needed) option. But you mention a 1080p monitor. Please, don't go 1080p with your setup. Please! I beg you! The only way I'd forgive you is if you're a competitive FPS gamer who needs extreme FPS for competition. I run a 165MHz 1440p monitor with a 1080 Ti, and gaming is amazing. That's one option.

Yes! I'm wanting to do a custom liquid cooling loop. I'll go ahead and check out that site later today, thanks friend :wahoo:

Is there a big difference between the 1080 and 1080 TI? I honestly don't think I'm going to run multiple monitors, because the bezel break always bothers me a bit. I think I'm open to mimicking your monitor/graphics card if you say it works well. My goal is to take current top tier gameplay graphics and push them a bit hehe ;)

The sale is gone :(

So how big is the difference between the 1080 and 1080 Ti?
