On PCPartPicker, I chose my rig and it says:
Some Intel B85 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

Is there a simple way of fixing this? I can't easily get other parts because of where I am.

You will need to check which revision your Gigabyte GA-B85M-D2V motherboard is, 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0. Then check the CPU support list on that motherboards product page. If your motherboard is revision 3.0 you will not need to update the BIOS. If it is 1.1 or 2.0 you probably will need to update the BIOS to support the Haswell Refresh Core i7-4790K.

You need a CPU for updating bios due to this Mobo does not have "q-flash plus" gigabyte feature, (only q-flash).
With "q-flash" you need memory and cpu (no S.O.).
with "q-flash plus" you dont need memory, cpu nor s.o..

I'm sorry.
