So i am planing on getting 3 Philips 273V7QJAB monitors and 1 LG 29UM58-P and total is 4 monitors, but in intel page for i7 8700k it says it can only support 3 displays, but i have seen people use 4 on i7 980. also i am going to use a splitter on one of the ports that goes to the TV. Will this nonsense work ?

Solution

the CPU wouldn't matter in your case since you are using a 1070 for video and not tthe iGPU in the 8700K. it would depnd on if the 1070 GPU is capable of supporting 4 displays and odds are it would

Well for as much as i know it has 1 hdmi 1 dvi and 3 dp so means i am golden ?

correct, you can use a combination of ports like one using HDMI and others using DP and DVI. depending on the connections on your monitors you may need some adapters if they only have HDMI

since it's a very old cpu on i7 980 i don't have much info, but i7 980 don't have a built-in gpu, and likely a on board gpu (could be from ati, intel, nvidia) which might support 4 display.

8700k supports 3 max, you can probably get a cheap amd graphics card with eyefinity to get the support for 4 monitor.
