Hello

Recently I have purchased a 500GB SSD. I decided it was time to reformat my PC and start fresh.
(My OS is Windows 10)

I have spend a few days tweaking my PC to get the SSD to work the way I want, which is to be a secondary drive to boot with and for games, but in order to do this I had to use the Samsung 'Data Migration' software, which basically duplicates your HDD onto your SSD, which means I now have all the files I had on my HDD, on my SSD so basically I have 2 duplicate drives.

So what I want to know/do is to be able to have 'Programme Files (x86)' and all other storage such as drivers and software on my HDD which is saved under (F: ) and then just have, Games and windows on my SSD which is saved under (C: ).

I know bits and bobs about PC's, but this is new to me so if i'm being stupid please tell me.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You could go into disk management and try some settings, but in regular old Windows 10, you're not going to be able to automate what kinds of files get stripped to a particular drive. You're best bet would be to put all your OS related files on the drive you normally boot from then use the new SSD separately for any game related software and or related programs.

You really don't want your Programs on the HDD.
That tosses out 1/2 the reason for having the SSD. And they don't take up all that much space.

Except for games.

All your other storage needs?

Steam games can easily live on multiple drives:

Now...on to the whole config:

You REALLY need to wipe everything from the HDD. All of it. THere is no reason to have all that stuff still on the HDD, and many reasons not to.
Then, reinstall your applications where you want them. But you really do actually want them on the SSD.

Games and other things, see above.

First, you test.

Power off
Disconnect the HDD
Power up.
Does everything work properly?

If so, then you wipe the entire HDD.
Go into Disk Management, and delete ALL partitions on it.
Format the whole single remaining space.
Use it for whatever.
