Hello, my Mom just bought me a new ASUS ROG GL553VD laptop with the price of $1,200 and these are the specs.

> Intel i7 - 7700HQ @ 2.80GHz
> Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti GDDR5 @ 2.0GB
> 1TB HDD
> 8GB Ram

Is this okay? because my friend says it is a ripoff because the GPU V-ram is only 2GB and he says it can't handle GPU intensive games. What is your opinion?

This is a budget Gamers laptop. The GL553VD won't offer the same gaming performance as it's bigger brothers, the GL502VM and GL502VS but its still a decent laptop. If your Mom bought for you so you can game and she has tons of cash then you should have got something better. check out the full review and specs with the link. If your mom bought it because she loves you then this is the best machine ever.

last time i checked that config came with a 4 gig variant of the gpu ... i picked up the identical laptop for my sister since she plays league of legends ... i paid 949 and i got

i7-7700hq
gtx 1050ti 4GB GDDR5
1tb HDD
256GB SSD
1080p ips 60hz screen

with this exacct config, she was getting about 300fps avg on max settings @ 1080p in league

i took it and put it though its paces with bf4, at ultra preset and 1080p with 100% res scale, i was getting 70-78fps on avg on a 64 man server

gpu was chillin at about 87c and cpu 95c ( only for bf4 ) ... but im not worried about that since im gonna be repasting her laptop with some thermal grizzly conductanaut i have lying around which should being that down into the high 70s

IMHO, i think you did get ripped off but its not the end of the world ... speak to your mom to see if she will go with you to exchange the machine for something else that has a better price to performance ratio.

if your satisfied with the answer, please select one to close this tread, happy gaming !

Get a MSI GL62M 7RDX/7REX. Cheaper option, comes with a non-Ti version but packs 4GB of VRAM, 8GB of RAM, an i5-7300HQ and a FHD 60Hz IPS panel. Good choice for a first gaming laptop. Cooling is also really good and it has a USB 3 Type-C port.
