Sound issue when connecting monitor speakers to PC

I use an RCA to 3.5mm to connect my KRK Rokit 6's to my PC through the headphone port at the front of the PC and there's a huge amount of interference/distortion sound. The KRK volume knob is set to 1 and there's a kind of interference noise. Its happened with all my set of speakers - Pioneer Monitor, KRK, M-Audio and I've used different wires so I know it's not the wire.

I have the same sound when plugging it directly into the motherboard at the back. I was wondering if there a way to fix this or is it just worth getting a soundcard/USB Audio Interface?

I would suggest removing everything from the case and setting up outside the case on a wooden surface or carton box or a test bench. Just make sure to connect ONLY what is actually needed for the PC to simply turn on. Mobo, CPU, PSU and ram and reconnect your speakers through the mobo. This will eliminate a lot of probable causes. If the problem persists then most likely the problem is either software/driver or onboard sound chipset on motherboard (i.e. hardware).

Ill give this go and let you know the outcome - Another thing is say if im playing Forza Horizon 3 at 4k (so a lot of processing and graphical power) the sound of the interference becomes really high pitched? It only seems to happen with my monitor speakers and not earphones?
