Just got my graphics card in the mail two days ago. I noticed pretty hot idle temps and Hot load temps.

Idle GPU Temp browsing websites: 48C
Load Temps 100 percent on FarCry 3: 84C
Load Temps 100 percent on Overwatch: 76C

Most games are hitting 80+C under load.

Just feel like the card runs hot. Any opinions?

System Specs:
i7 8700k Stock
cryorig H5 ultimate
Fractal Meshify C with upgraded nzxt fans 2x120 front intake ,1x120 rear exhaust, 1x120 top exhaust.

Fans are set to agressive curb on my Asus maximus x hero.

UPDATE: Played Fallout 4 maxed out only got to 60C haha WTF is going on? does game optimization change gpu temps?

That is pretty hot for a high fan curve. The SC has a decent cooler. Are you overclocking? Did you increase the voltage. I would run it stock and see if you are getting the same temps.

Your temp limit is probably set at 84C, so that is why it is at 84 because it is downclocking to keep it there. I would verify that the fan curve is working. If you are using MSI Afterburner, then try EVGA Precision X and if you are on EVGA, the try afterburner. Maybe your fan curves did not get saved some how.

Did you have a GPU in previously? I don't know if this would impact the temperature of the card, but it could be a driver issue. You may have some old drivers still in the registry. I would use this DDU tool and then reinstall the drivers.

Update: So i tested out a few more games and almost all of the newer games run cooler, Dirt Rally runs at 71C maxed out, Fallout 4 Runs around 60C maxed out, My guess would be older games are the ones that make it run hotter

If that is the case, then it sounds like a driver issue.
