High cpu usage

I have a Pentium g4400 @ 3.3Ghz and I've noticed recently that CPU usage has been really high with it sitting at 99% quite frequently even just doing simple things like web browsing. It may just be coincidence but I also recently installed an SSD. Is the high CPU usage just down to the fact that it is only dual core and maybe can't handle normal tasks or could it be something else?
thanks

Common question. Windows background tasks like the updater can cause high cpu usage.

1) open task manager
2) go to "Performance" tab
3) click "Open Resource Monitor" at the bottom of the window
4) click the "CPU" column to sort by most usage first and see which processes are eating up cpu time

CPU: g4400
Motherboard: gigabyte GA-H110M-A ddr3
Ram: Corsair vengeance 2x4 ddr3l 1600
SSD: Crucail mx500 250gb
GPU: Zotac mini gtx 1050 ti
PSU: Corsair vs550

the cpu usage sits at around 50% when just idling and frequently jumps to 99% even when just using a few applications. There doesn't appear to be one particular task using the cpu just for example chrome using it for a bit then geforce experience then steam while at 99%. I have recently done a full scan and nothing came up. I'm starting to wonder if I just need to buy a new cpu.

Does the usage cause any issues with anything you're doing with the computer? Strongly doubt there's anything inherently wrong with that chip, if that's what you're wondering. If, on the other hand, you're thinking you need more cpu resources, then that first question of my post matters a great deal.

Yes I do find that some applications become very slow I also do quite a lot of software development and also gaming and these tasks do become quite slow. What would you recommend I upgrade to if I was going to buy a new cpu?

Simplest thing to think about/ponder regarding this, you mentioned that you just recently started noticing this. Have you installed any new software around the same time as you put in the new SSD? What's your program list look like at boot-up?
I'd like to figure out why your cpu usage is so high, before I recommend a new CPU(even if we likely end up at that).

Take a picture of task manager with processes tab and click on "CPU" tab and place it here, to see what processes are using your CPU too much. Also have in mind that some web pages may use a lots of CPU power if they have lots of ads and use flash animations, or the site has hidden crypto miner.
