Replaced Hard Drive, now Graphics card won't work

I recently replaced the hard drive on my Acer Aspire laptop and now the only graphical engine I have is the generic microsoft basic renderer, despite the fact that the device manager says that my Nvidia GeForce 940 MX is working properly. Can't access the nvidia control panel, and uninstalling + reinstalling hasn't done crap. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Usually the manufacturers of laptops use custom software and drivers to manage components, including graphics components. So it wouldn't be unexpected if you replaced the hard drive and did a clean install of Windows, that you'd need to reinstall all the original software that came with the computer. In fact, ideally you'd use a 'restore' disk or image after you installed the hard drive in order to get the laptop back in factory condition.

Just downloading and installing the Nvidia drivers might not be enough for a laptop.
