So I have had my computer for about 6 months and if I had damaged my computer with static electricity would it have failed already.if so am I good if it still seems to function fine.
It is very hard to kill a computer with ESD. Most PC components now come with good ESD protection features and unless you're really trying to shock the computer you won't be able to kill it.
Even if you did manage to kill it with ESD, it would die immediately, not 6 months later. You are fine.

There isn't anymore protection than there was before and it is easy to kill components with esd. All you have to do is touch it. Esd can damage components and still work but are unstable. If you have no issues, then it's fine.

You're right that all you have to do is touch it... but there has to be an incredible amount of build up before you actually end up damaging components. Jayztwocents did his video about it well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdzo-uAvz5Y
Needless to say he is only one person doing this test and he does VERY CLEARLY say to NOT do this, since the risk is there, but as long as you're being even a little bit careful it is basically impossible to fry your system with ESD. There are a lot of factors involved but most of the time you are fine even if you give it a mild shock.
