I'm looking to build a gaming PC for 400$ or less. (I don't mind if its a bit over my price range), I'm new to the "Building PC" world so I guess you could call me a newb. I have no idea what components to choose.

Any type of help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Overclock to around 3.8-4.0ghz on the stock AMD Wraith cooler, as for gaming your looking at 720P around Low settings for playable FPS. When GPU prices normalize then grab a good mid range card and you'll have a good system.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($99.88 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock - AB350 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard ($54.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($103.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($43.89 @ OutletPC)
Case: Deepcool - TESSERACT WH ATX Mid Tower Case...

With the state of gfx card and RAM prices, prebuilt is the way to go. Prices are showing signs of settling but for now I'd either look to the used or pre-built market.

I checked on pc part picker to see if it was compatible and I get this message.
"Some AMD B350 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Raven Ridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions."
Do i need to worry about the compatibility with the motherboard and the Ryzen 3?

Don't get the ASRock AB350 whatevers. Those boards are timebombs. Quality control on those are shoddy at best. If you look at the reviews for them from Newegg, Amazon, Reddit etc. You can see people experiencing random BSOD, hangs, black screens etc. I got one and learned the hard way myself. The failure rates on those are too high.

BTW you absolutely have to worry about the CPU compatibility. Without the right Bios it would not even post. This applies to all AM4 boards. AMD really screwed this launch with the 2200G/2400G. BTW don't expect it to work with Windows 7 either.

There's a few different options but AMD can loan you a boot kit to update the BIOS to support the newer CPU's.
