To clarify, Im thinking about purchasing and installing this PCI usb-c card to adapt my desktop so I can utilize the usb-c options. The card in question here

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY4WRBU/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

states that it needs a PCI Express Base Specification Revision 3.0 single-lane. My motherboard is an alienware board with 2x single lane x16 slots. However the machine is a few years old and im certain the PCI lanes are not 3.0. I would link directly to the motherboard Im using but im unsure what model it even is. It's the default board that comes with an Alienware Aurora R4.

Due to the nature of using the usb-c to its full potential, would it even be worth installing on my current board? or would the earlier PCI lanes inhibit its proper use? Would it work but at slower speeds? Or simply not function at all?

Any help would be much appreciated.

UPDATE: I've checked that my Video Card GTX 980 proves Bus support for PCI 3.0. So if my graphics card runs fine, I feel like that would also mean the card in question would function.. I may be wrong though.

That's awesome to hear, thanks for the feedback. It's not overly expensive so I'll be giving it a shot as soon as my PCs back up and running. Ill followup with results.
