I haven't upgraded my system in about 4-5 years now. I use my computer for gaming but also for work. I mostly play FFXIV, Guild Wars 2, XCOM, FFXV and a few other similar games. For work, I use Photoshop, Premier, and lately 3D sculpting or printing programs. I've noticed that I'm no longer able to be logged into a game, while on another screen working with Magicks or Perfactory RP while playing. It takes awhile to build the EnvisionTec builds for my 3d Printer.

Not quite sure if I'm running into a memory or graphics issues and that is why it starts to tank. I've been meaning to upgrade my Video Card but figured might as well look at building a new system. My current build is something like:

Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Intel
Processor: Intel i7-4770K
RAM: 16GB RAM
Video Card: 1GB Nvidia GeForce 560 Ti
Power Supply: Corsair CX750
Hard Drives: Crucial M500 240GB SSD, 2 Western Digital 1TB
Case: Zalman MS800

The other reason to upgrade is that my old computer goes to the wife, her computer to our son, his to my daughter. All in all everyone gets upgrades.

I was looking for a decent computer most likely putting an i7-8700K processor in it. I was looking at a 4GB 1050 Ti video card but open to other options. I'd like to keep it around $1000 but not more than $1500 (if we're including video card at that point). No need for monitors as I already have 2 HDMI monitors already and not including the OS price.

I would say that a 8600k or 8400 would be enough CPU for you, but I dont use any sculpting or printing programs and they may scale with the extra threads. Since your 4770k is slowing you down, it sounds like you need more cores. Your GPU is really holding you back, I would look at a 1060 6gb.

This is under your $1500, but over your 1k with a good GPU. You could go for a 500gb SSD or add an HDD for other files.

I have no experience with Liquid CPU Cooling... is that needed if I'm not overclocking. They are probably fairly better and improved over the years but I just have seen horror stories about leak nightmares.

I like feelinfroggy777's idea. A SATA SSD will save you a little bit of money, but I mean if you don't do a lot of large file moving and transferring M.2 won't make a huge difference for you anyway.

I've heard more about leaks with custom loops than with AIO's but it is entirely possible. Is it very probable? No, most likely not. If you're not overclocking you don't NEED a liquid cooler, I just like them for i7's and i'9s because they tend to have higher TDP and hit higher temps at idle and under load than something like a pentium or i3.

If your not overclocking, then you definitely dont need a liquid cooler. And if you do go AIO, dont go for the H60 as there are many air coolers that will do a better job. You would need a AIO with a 240mm radiator. Leaking is not an issue with decent coolers from good manufactures. But you dont need it anyway.

I am not an AMD hater, but the 1060 6gb is about $100 cheaper, uses less power, and performance is nearly identical to the 580. Until the AMD cards drop to a reasonable price, I cannot recommend for anyone to get one.
