Help with first PC build, electric current on back of case and screws

Hi,

I just finish assembling my first PC and everything is working fine. However when i touch the back of the case or screws, there is an electric current running through which is painful to touch.

Strangely when i test the PC in my living room, the electric current is gone. My living room has granite or marble flooring. When i test it in all my bedrooms on both a glass table (i feel even stronger current) and parquet floor, the electric current is there. I ran repeated tests on multiple sockets and don't have the issue in my living room, only in the bedrooms.

I really don't know what is going on, anybody know what is causing this? Thanks.

Hi

What country are you in?

you may have faulty sockets in your bedroom
if the earth connection is missing or not connected to each socket that fault live voltage on casing can occur

There are test plugs available with 3 leds which can test for wrongly wired sockets which can confirm this sort of fault.

You need a qualified electrician to fix the fault in the mains circuit.

Laptops usually have double insulated power supplys so do not give you a electric shock in a socket with missing earth

but any electrical device with exposed metalwork may do so

I'm in Singapore. Not too sure about the earth connection or faulty socket as i do not really know how to run these tests.

This morning, i changed the PSU plug that goes to the main socket into a 3 pin and i no longer get this electric current at the back of case and screws. However when i plug in the hdmi cable, the same issue comes back but this time i can feel that the current is much weaker.

After that i turned off the PC and then back on again few hours later. On the first try i still get this current at the back of the case. I unplugged the socket to mains, waited for a short while and turned the PC on again, on this second try i longer have this issue at all even after plugging in the hdmi. By the results of these tests, can i actually conclude that the issue is what you have already mentioned, faulty wall sockets/wiring and earth connections, and not an issue with the PC components or build?

Thanks.

More details after a few days of running the system.

It seems like the issue is on and off. Upon turning on the main power switch, i get electric current on the case around once in every 3 tries. After that i just power off, wait for few mins before turning the switch on again and the problem is gone. On other times, i just don't get this electric current on the case at all.

Do you guys think this is a poor grounding issue, faulty socket/plug or a faulty PSU?

PSU model is Seasonic Focus+ Gold 550.
