Hi, so i sold my old system a few months back and now i want to start a fresh build. I have around £900 to spend on my build and for that price i have managed to jot down a decent build for that price but my question is will this build be enough for gaming on high or ultra settings in 1080p with at least 60fps? & will this build be a pretty balanced system with no bottleneck?

I will only be using this system for gaming & watching films

The system im looking to build is:

Msi Z370 gaming plus MB
I5 8400 (six core) CPU
1060 6GB GPU
8GB DDR4 2400 MHz RAM
120GB SSD
1TB HDD
550w 80 plus PSU

The games i normally play are open world games, battle royal games & online shooters.

specs seemed to be good, but as what he said, the ram. maybe 8gb werent really a big problem for 1080p gaming, but if some newer title game can easily crush a lot of ram, i personally have 12gb of ram on my laptop and thought it wont reach 8gb, but eventually when playing games the usage can goes to 7-8gb ish, other people may have different result, but my laptop even use like 3.5gb at idle. so basically having 16gb is better because of just in case games will crush a lot of ram and also who knows if you will upgrade your system and play games at higher resolution or playing heavier games in the future. by the way if you want to wait, B and H series intel mobo will come soon, which would be cheaper option for you as you cannot really...

Yeah i was thinking of going for 16gb ram but i cant go over £900 but my motherboard supports up to 32gb so can always upgrade when i have a spare £90, so do you think this build is a solid build for gaming then?

If you are not going to overclock, then you can save money on your motherboard.
You can also save money by going Ryzen or to a 4 core Intel CPU (you won't see much difference in gaming).

The 1060 is a great card, guaranteed.
But 60 fps consistently depends upon the games you play.
For example, Witcher 3 on Ultra will be around 45 fps.
You can check other benchmarks for the games you play.

for now there is no option for saving money motherboard, only z370 support the new 8th gen cpu, the H and B series havent been in the market, but will do in the near future. 60 fps should be able to be reached if he is playing in 1080p, 1060 is not designed to run 1440p or above. depends on what 4 core intel processor, there is 4 cores i7, i5, and in 8th gen i3, and the difference could be seen clearly if the clock speed difference is pretty far or if you compare the one with hyperthreading and without, but those also depends on the games
