Hi all!

Today I was reading about how to fix the stuttering issues while gaming on Win 10 OS,on this sites:

https://windows10skill.com/micro-stuttering-in-games-windows-10/

and https://windows10skill.com/fix-games-stuttering-with-fps-drops-after-creators-update/

and I did everything like in that guides!

After that I run 3 games, and I noticed that my GTX 960M GPU's Boost stopped working!
I realized that with observing the info from the OSD by MSI Afterburner ; I have already OC my GPU via MSI Afterburner ,but I have never had problems with it!

So I uninstalled the graphics driver via DDU,and reinstalled the last best working graphics driver, but I got the same result, the GPU's Boost doesn't work!

I also read in some guides that with disabling the HPET in Win 10 OS,there is an improvement in the smoothness and FPS of the games!

So first of all,I would please to tell me how to get back my GPU Boost!
And as second I would please to tell me how do I disable the HPET !

My laptop is Lenovo Y-700-15ISK ,and the GPU is Nvidia GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5

Please help me!
Thanks to all in advance!
Best regards!

Modern laptops with Nvidia switchable graphics (Optimus) require specific drivers to work. Unlike a desktop, they're set up so the Intel graphics is always driving the screen. The Nvidia GPU acts as a co-processor. Every time a game completes drawing a frame on the Nvidia GPU, it sends the image to the Intel GPU for display. The process is extremely driver-dependent. I've noticed that the generic Intel and/or Nvidia drivers you can download off their sites frequently do not support this. The times I've tried, it didn't work, then later it worked, then later it didn't work again. It's like when they put out the generic drivers, they do not test it on laptops.

Go to the Lenovo website for your laptop, and download both the latest Intel and Nvidia drivers. Then disconnect your computer from the Internet (so Windows doesn't try to auto-update). Run DDU to uninstall both the Intel and Nvidia drivers. Then install the Intel and Nvidia drivers you downloaded from the Lenovo site. Test your games again before you reconnect your computer to the network (sometimes Windows auto-installs new drivers which don't work on laptops). If they work, you know you have a working config.

Next, reconnect to the network and let Windows Update do its thing if it wants, and test your games again. If they don't work, then Windows Update is replacing your working drivers with non-functional drivers, and you're going to have to figure out some way to disable Windows Update. Either disable the Windows Update service, or set your connection to metered (though recently Microsoft has started bypassing these settings). Then do all the above again to get yourself back on working drivers. Once a month or so you're going to have to re-enable Windows Update to get security update, then go through this whole charade again to get your Nvidia GPU working. I had to do that for over a year, until a few months ago the drivers Windows Update installed finally began working with my laptop (they still break SweetFX but I can live without that).

A tip just in case you find that Windows Update is still installing drivers, you can still access the old 'System Properties' window by pressing 'Win+Break/Pause'. Once you have this open, click on 'Advanced System Settings', then click on the Hardware tab. Click the 'Device Installation Settings' button, then choose the 'No' option. This will prevent Windows Update from updating or installing missing drivers in your system.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from Maq___ : "Nvidia GTX 960M GPU stucks at 405 MHz (core and memory clocks),or at 1176 Mhz core and 2505 memory clocks(at idle)Please help!"

Hi to all,

I am facing a problem with my Lenovo Y-700-15ISK Ideapad' s Nvidia GTX 960M 4 GB GPU!

A few days ago,the GPU started to stuck at 405 MHz core and 405 MHz memory clocks,or sometimes at 1176 MHz core and 2505 MHz memory clocks while idle!

While gaming the clocks change randomly which cause FPS drops!

I uninstalled the graphics drivers with DDU,and installed fresh and newest drivers ,but that didn't help!

I did a full antivirus scan with Bitdefender Total Security 2018,and it didn't find any malware!

I reinstalled the Win 10 x64 bit OS for two times, but the problem still persists!

I did a full hardware diagnostics scan via Lenovo's Solution Center, and the scan didn't show any hardware problem, every hardware part which was tested was OK!

The last thing I tried was resseting the BIOS settings, but and that didn't help me too!

What can I do to fix this issue?

Please help me!
Thanks to all in advance!
Best regards!
