Today, by PC stopped detecting my HDD. My rig is 4 years old, so I wouldn't have been surprised if this hard disk's life was over, but I decided to troubleshoot a bit more.

I entered BIOS only to find out it doesn't detect my HDD, so I figured it was either a faulty disk or faulty connectors so, naturally, I tried connecting the hard disk to my SSD's SATA cables and it was working perfectly.

At this point, I figured the cables were indeed faulty, but then I connected the SSD to the hard disk's cables and it started working as well.

Now I would be tempted to say "problem's solved" and not worry about it ever again, but I fear the cables might be indeed faulty, which could adversely affect the SSD now connected to them.

Just to be sure, I chkdsk-ed both disks and everything works well.

So here I am, asking about this weird issue. I don't have the required equipment to check if the cables are working normally, but what do you think? Should I worry?

PS: I checked all the connections. No cables loosely plugged or anything of the sort.

As for my rig:
Motherboard: AsRock 970 Pro3 R2.0
CPU: AMD FX8350
RAM: 16 GB DDR3 1866 MHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 760
PSU: 600W (some no-name brand, does it's job)
