Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB sequential Read/Write Speeds Substantially Higher than Samsung SSD 960 Pro 512GB?

First post here:

I have two machines with the following specs:

Asus Z170-A mobo w/ i6700k Processor
Samsung SSD 850 Evo 250GB

Asus Z370-A mobo w/ i8700k Processor
Samsung SSD 960 Evo Pro 512GB M.2.

When I run the Samsung performance benchmark on each machine; I get the following readings:

850 Evo SSD
Sequential read = 6,468
Sequential write = 6,593
Random read = 154,372
Random write = 122,738

960 Pro M.2.
Sequential read = 3,041
Sequential write = 1,964
Random read = 263,916
Random write = 237,548

Applications open slower, and file transfers take longer on the 960 Pro M.2.... I'm out of ideas, and any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Much thanks,
Clay

Exactly.
The RAPID mode is basically a RAM cache. It sucks off a large part of your RAM (4GB+) to directly serve the SSD.

Those huge numbers are actually reading your RAM speed, not the drive.

Thank you for your prompt reply! Yes, you're correct. It's enabled on the 850; not offered as on option on the 960.

This may be more appropriate as a new thread (longtime reader; first time poster) but I'm wondering if the slow application speed has something to do with AI Suite 3/DIP. As I'm taking a quick glance at it now; I'm seeing the following:

i6700k
Core 0 = 4202.1
Voltage = .9

i8700k
Core 0 = 0800
Voltage = .70

The i8700k seems to fluctuate quite a bit; now I'm seeing 2400/.8

I'm wondering the best way to tweak the i8700... Thanks again.

I'm not familiar with that application.
Yes, start a new thread for this. You'll get more replies than in this already solved one.
