ok so I have a problem I just built a computer out of used parts and I have a Windows 7 disk key but it's a 32 bit key . I'm going to be using it for mainly gaming so I need a 64 bit operating system to be able to play them. I have little to no knowledge on operating system and would welcome any suggestions or help . I have found a sale on Windows 10 pro for $14 but it's just the key and not the disk and I don't know if it's the whole operating system or if it's just an upgrade to Windows 10.

Yes, you can buy directly from Microsoft or a reputable source like Newegg. We do not recommend the use of those cheap grey market sites/vendors that sell questionable stuff all over the 'Net.

You download the installation media from Microsoft and then use the product key you have when asked to enter it. You should be able (still) to use the current Win 7 product key to install Windows 10 with (assuming the key is valid and was not used for a previous Windows 10 upgrade).

Also, you can't simply upgrade from any 32-bit version of Windows to any 64-bit version of Windows. Rather than an upgrade, you must perform a full, clean install.

i just used magic jelly bean to find my Windows key because it's not on the disk case and tried to use it for activation but when I did it said that it was the default key and that it needed a different key for activation. so is there any where I can just buy a 64 bit key to use ?
