Asrock P43DE + Xeon X5460 overclock?

I saw a lot of videos on youtube when people oc'd their x5460 to 4ghz ven 4.26ghz but mine can only be ocd to 3.5 ghz or it gets blue screen... what am i doing wrong?

Not enough voltage or not enough cooling. Also, at 4.0GHz a 45nm C2Q uses 200w and at 4.26GHz over 260w, which you are attempting to supply with just a 4-phase VRM that may simply be insufficient for the task.

Going over the specified never-exceed voltage of 1.45v is required for stability at these speeds but will shorten the life of your vintage hardware in exchange for the bragging rights on Youtube. And investing in the kind of extreme cooling that would be required for those speeds on a 10 year old CPU isn't practical, when it would be more expensive than a newer i3 that would perform just as well on only 35w.
