Upgrading CPU from G4400 to i3 6100?

I currently have an Intel Pentium G4400 in a Gigabyte H110M-A motherboard, I was looking to upgrade it to an i3 6100 or 7100. I was also looking at the G4560 and the i3 8100, but the 6100 and 7100 were most appealing to me for the fairly budget price tag. Would an 8100 or G4560 be better for the money?

I use my PC for gaming like Siege, CS:GO, and Overwatch, and I'm running 8 gigs of DDR4 RAM and a GTX 1050 with 2 gigs of VRAM.

G4400 is 2 c 2 t and I3 6100, I3 7100, G4560, G4600, G4620 are 2c 4t. Any of this are far better than G4400.
I3 6100 is sure compatible with your mobo. The other require the F20 bios version. You can see the bios version with CPU-Z program.
Update the bios is a risky option. If you not familiar with updating the bios and must do it, go for I3 6100.

All of this are nearly similar with more o less GZH, 2 cores 4 threats:

I3 7100 3,9 Ghz
I3 6100 3,7 Ghz
G4620 3,7 Ghz
G4600 3,6 Ghz
G4560 3,5 ghz

your cpu G4400 3,3 only 2 cores 2 t.

the choice depends on the price of the cpu in your country. think that the difference between G4400 and G4560 is 30% and the difference between the G4560 and the i3 7100 is only 12%.
no 8100 for 100/200 series motherboards, unless you are quite comfortable and adept at the assorted BIOS hacks/reflashing required, and, have the two or three motherboards where they are known to work....

Seems pointless for an 8100 which will give similar performance to a 7100 anyway....

Flash your BIOS to support Kabylake CPUs, and find a 7700....

Your motherboard only supports Skylake and Kaby Lake 6th and 7th gen CPUs. It does not support the 8th generation Coffee Lake, so an i3 8100 is out of the question without a new motherboard. You will have to look into your motherboard's BIOS if you want to upgrade to Kaby Lake CPU as some of the older ones require a BIOS flash with a Skylake CPU to take a Kaby Lake. The only advantages the i3 7100 has over the half lower priced G4560 are a higher core clock speed by 400MHz and an instruction set that most would never use (AVX).

I doubt that you will notice the difference between any of the CPUs with that GPU.

So an i3 6100 still requires a BIOS flash?

No it won't. The 7xxx series will.

Alright, thanks for the clarification.
