Extending wi-fi signal to unpowered dock 700+ feet from house

Hi everyone. We are in the process of building a new home and are a couple of months away from moving in so starting to look at technology. Home is in the Caribbean and current ISP will be able to shift service from rental property to ours. It's wireless service with a Ubiquiti access point powered through POE. Anticipating the same at our house. Currently using a Linksys router but it is getting old and dropping the network semi-regularly so planning to update once I make sure that my router choice isn't going to mess up what I want to do.

I am looking to try and extend the wi-fi signal from the house to the dock which is 700 - 800 feet away and around 50 feet lower than the house. House is made of concrete and I know I am going to need an antenna on the house (assuming POE connection through the wall to the router / POE adapter) and am assuming antenna will need to be directional to get the range, but not clear what I need on the dock. There is no power to the dock, would have to run it from the house which I don't want to do and don't really want to install anything at the dock end either - these things have a tendency to grow legs overnight and are never seen again.

Not really sure what my options are so hoping you guys can educate me.

You can look at ubiquiti site they sell a bunch of outdoor bridge equipment and outdoor antenna. You likely will need directional equipment on both ends. The problem with going unpower antenna on the remote end is how do you hook it up to the end equipment. The normal antenna on end equipment is not designed to go that distance. There is a small chance it will work with directional on only 1 end but there is no way to predict this since there are too many variables.

Your best bet if you don't want to leave equipment is to look for a directional bridge that can be powered by 12 volts transformer. You could use any common 12 volt rechargeable battery pack to provide the power instead. Some of the so called PoE uses 12 volt power injectors also so you can substitute a battery for that also. Actual 802.3af POE is 48volts and is a active protocol so you can not just replace that with simple batteries. Since you are going only a relatively short distance for outdoor equipment you can use the smaller easily portable devices and alignment is not all that critical.

Thanks Bill, I was afraid that might be the case. 12v power isn't a huge deal, more concerned that the dock end hardware (AP) will disappear. There are a couple of hard to reach places I might be able to install it which would take a pretty dedicated individual to reach so may need to look at that and then have some ethernet cable attached to that somewhere I can get it when needed.

Thanks kanewolf. Not sure I want to spend that much money just to get wifi on the dock but will look into it. I was thinking of a small solar or wind system down the road to generate power to the dock for things like a boat lift motor and for use when entertaining (lights, plug in cooler, etc.) so maybe I can just combine with that and a regular plug in POE adaptor.
