I am wondering if there is any data on component RMA percentage of different products. I am going to purchase parts for a computer, which needs to be as reliable as possible, without breaking the bank. I do not really care about performance, anything above a pentium will do. I am looking at the G4560, but unsure what motherboard and power supply to get. Keep in mind this is in AUD.

P.S. I have experienced some of the older seasonic's dieing, e.g. the S12II units. I have also heard these have high RMA rates aswell (This one lasted 6 months then I RMA'd it, then the RMA unit blew about 7 months later). My cheap chinese power supply lasted for 10 years until that kicked the bucket, after it being clogged with dust.

a corsair cx 450w ( black and white version ) would be plenty

any b250 mobo would be suitable, just make sure it has the features you want

Why not just get a pre-built?

You need to also factor in the cost of Windows. You can usually shop around and find some fairly inexpensive pre-builts on sale that you could not build (again with Windows cost) for the same price.

In the USA I saw something for $300USD that was a fine office PC. It was something like $450USD to build a similar PC and add Windows.

I would then buy an SSD to be a bit snappier, clone from the existing HDD, then wipe the HDD and use it to store a backup IMAGE of the Windows partition and automate updates to the backup (i.e. with Acronis True Image).
