Hey everyone, just trying to get a little input on where my money is best spent. I can buy either of the following:

i5-6600, GTX 1060 6gb, 16gb RAM, 120 SSD, 1tb HDD, 500w PSU,

For $540

OR

i5-2500, GTX 980ti, 8gb ram, 320gb HDD, 700w PSU,

For $460?

980ti is the better graphics card but the other components (mobo, cpu, ram, HDD) are lacking and would cost a bit to replace in the future. Conversely, if the mining craze dies down old cards will likely become much cheaper and option 2 may be an easier upgrade in the future (just getting a new GPU to plug in when I need an upgrade). I'll be using the PC for gaming, currently at 1080p maybe moving onto 1440p one day. I don't need ultra everything by any means but I'm just trying to figure out how to best spend my money.

Additionally, I'm Canadian so the actual prices are 700 vs 600 (I doubt it changes anything). I just converted to US as I assumed the majority of posters would be US based.

Solution
I would go for the first build. If 1080p is all you are doing, the 1060 should be good enough. Yes the 980Ti is a really good card, but the rest of the system is unbalanced. Plus, the first build you can upgrade later.

Edit: sorry for the double post of this. I originally put it in the wrong category and can't figure out how to delete the other post.
