I have a dell inspiron 3421 with win 10. it stopped catching wifi signals today but was catching signals yesterday just fine.wifi device is not so far (less then 50 metres). i had the same problem earlier but it somehow resolved itself. but this time it seems more severe as it is only showing 1 signal. I didn't drop it or anything else it just happened out of nowhere. What are the possible solutions?

Well if you have 4GB ram then it should handle without problem, as for if it might have 2 stick to windows 7 (it has much less impact on perfomance).

Uninstall Broadcom and TAP and restart windows (those drivers are with windows update package), if it installs (automaticly) and works fine problem solved,
if it doesnt install, just download latest for windows 10 (drivers/software) and install them and i think problem should re appear in some future.

Type in start device manager (Do you have dedicated wired/phone internet? You might need it) after window pops up go to -> Network adapters and screen shot that and post here (IMGBB or similar what you like to use). Then ill tell you what to uninstall (because i don't know the name of it), and after reboot, windows should reinstall it itself (in case if it doesnt just download proper driver and install it).

Here's the screenshot, I don't know what IMGBB is so i am just posting screenshot. Moreover i am strongly considering to shift to win 7 ( as my laptop is old and cant handle win 10 very well) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fY4cR9yhSpMusenVkQ8VfP8Cr4NBjaJu
