So im thinking of upgrading my cpu from the intel core i3 3220 3.3GHz to the Intel core i7 2600k just for the overclocking capability and also becuase its the best chip for my motherboard (LGA 1155) and I was looking around the bios and noticed there is no ai tweaker. Does anybody know how to fix this???

Solution
Replacing the BIOS chip for that motherboard will not miraculously enable overclocking.
H61's are locked chipsets and, outside of potential tweaks to the BCLK, overclocking is not a possibility.

Replacing the BIOS chip can only provide you with a newer BIOS, compatible with the board (as can a 'standard' BIOS update)
OR
Enabling a rollback to an older revision of the BIOS, if downgrading is not a possibility.

Neither will achieve what you want to do.

Locked (non-K) Sandy and Ivy chips could be overclocked by 400MHz, but still required a motherboard capable of supporting.

does updating my bios not do the the same job as this chip because it says latest bios on the thumbnail of the ebay listing and i have the most recent bios driver

so buying this new chip lets me update my bios past the prebuilt limit and let me overclock?

damn so u recommend for me to get a whole new board?

There are some options for this board too in the Tweaker menu:

Not necessarily. What are you trying to achieve here? The i3 to i7 upgrade is still going to give you an additional 2cores/4threads AND a +600MHz gain through boost clocks. Depending on your workload, that can potentially be a significant upgrade in itself, before even considering overclocking.

Now, if you just want to OC for fun etc.... then yes, a new motherboard would be required.
I wouldn't look to spend a whole lot on a suitable motherboard though - they still go for some decent month!

There will be - it's just not "full" overclocking support.
I also believe you need an unlocked CPU for (some) of the options to show. It *should* only show the applicable options for the CPU installed.

basically i want to get the 2600k and that chip is clocked at around 3.4ghz stock but can be overclocked to around 4.5 ghz i seen with the right cooling (CoolerMaster 212 Evo) which is the cpu cooler which i have on my pc right now

4.5 is simple enough to obtain on that chip..... but needs a suitable motherboard. Not happening on that one, I'm afraid.

There are some tweaks available on the board, like increasing the BCLK.... but that's not really advisable.
The relatively 'safe' steps would only get you to around 3.9GHz. Anything beyond 103 is likely to cause instability/crashes.

my birthday is coming up relatively soon so ill get some cash from that probably enough for the cpu itself and maybe even more so im thinking should i buy the cpu and a motherboard that can support overclocking past 4ghz?

From what I can find (eBay), the i7-2600K still sells for ~$100 or a little more. A compatible motherboard in the Z68 chipset (etc) thats working, runs anywhere from $80 to $175 or more.

For that kind of money, I would personally advise against it. 7 year old CPU (no matter how good it was/is) and a comparable aged motherboard..... just a waste of money to me. IF you had a 2600K and Z68 (etc) motherboard, I'd continue using it, it's still good for what it is..... but I wouldn't be investing any decent amount of money into the platform in 2018.

Realistically, for not a whole lot more money (vs. middle ground of eBay sold prices anyway), you could have a modern platform that'll scratch your overclocking 'itch' some...

I'd full expect to be comfortably >$200 for an i7-2600K and any decent board..... So while it's still a decent bit more money, it would be money well spent IMO.

I already have 8gb ram 1333mhz so i dont really need more ram. And I have A msi GTX 950 msi graphic card so do u think that the ryzen 5 and the gtx 950 be able to run most games in 1080p around medium settings? also my case is the BitFenix bfx-ntg-100-kkwsk-rp and im not sure if this case be able to hold the motherboard because the MSI-B350 TOMAHAWK AEX AM4 Motherboard is full ATX

If you have an i3-3220, you have DDR3.. . A Ryzen platform uses DDR4 and they're not interchangeable.

A Ryzen5* 1600 can pair very well with much stronger GPUs than a 950, so would give you a solid foundation going forward.
For now, it should do a decent job of 1080p/medium most of the time.

That case part list shows as the Nova TG? Which does support ATX alongside mATX and mITX.

There are similarly priced mATX boards though... although you typically sacrifice a couple of DIMM slots, at least on a budget.

Note, depending on what your birthday is specifically, Ryzen2 should be launched/available soon (April 11th I believe I heard), so by the time you purchase, there may be better options...

how much money do you think id make by selling the RAM and the Cpu?

Really depends on the route you go with it.
eBay, you're looking anywhere from probably $50 to $120.... less 10-15% fees after eBay and PayPal fees. so $40-$100 range.

Locally, depends on your area/demand. I'd suggest you 'expect' around $75.
