Will the motherboard turn on with a damaged socket pin?

Hi guys,

The thing is i have a motherboard and its a really good one and i would like to use it, socket 1151, when i was checking i saw at least one pin and it does not look in the same order as the others, it looks twisted, what can i do? should i put a CPU and ram and see if it works?

**note, i want to know if is the case that is damaged, will it let me go into the bios or it will just turn on but nothing on the screen will be showed? thanks in advance.

If it's bent, but not touching another pin, you can try it out. If you're lucky, it's a power or ground pin. Since there's many redundant power and ground pins on a CPU, one pin that's not making contact will not be an issue. If it's a signal pin, than it may not work.

Hard to say because it depends on what the pin was used for. It may simply be another ground pin. Or a redundant pin. If it were mine, I'd probably try it with a processor if you have one available.
Also, check "how" the pin is damaged. If it is shorting another pin, then that may cause other issues that would make testing a bit more touchy.

It worked, but with only 1 ram stick, motherboard: maximus hero VIII asis, RAM 2x4gb ddr4 3600LPX, when i place the reond ram it wont work! any advise?

The good news is the CPU and mobo socket are OK. Now you have a ram issue. Couple of things:
1. Did you buy the ram as a set? If you bought separate sticks, if may not match.
2. Did you try each stick one at a time? In other words, each of the sticks will work by it's self.
3. With one stick in, check the bios. Are any of the ram timings changed from factory default?
4. Try a cmos reset of the mobo. Then, install both sticks. Will it boot?
5. Last - dial down the ram speed. Can you get it to work with both sticks at a slower speed.

Its more complicated now, i noticed, slot 1 and 2 dont work,, the pc posts when i put the sticks on slots 3 and 4, and seaparated in 3 and 4, but it does not work on 1 and 2, separated or together it does not work, both rams work just fine, the slots dont, i was reading it 90% broken or bent pins, what do you think?

If you can live without the slight speed increase of dual channel ram, then just use slots 3 & 4. I could be related to the bent socket pin. But, it's hard to say with out knowing the exact bent pin location and then trying to find the CPU pin table online.

Bent pin + ram issues is a dead giveaway that the bent pin isn't a ground or other redundant pin, but a signal pin for the ram.
As long as the pin is not under metal stress fractures, it's fixable by very carefully straightening it with a magnifying glass of some sort and a sharp toothpick and tons of light. Just don't try it with the mobo in the case, remove the mobo and place on cardboard on a table top that's sturdy not wobbly. Do not rush this, it looks simple but that's deceiving, if it takes an hour to get perfect, it takes an hour.
