Looking for a new cordless vacuum cleaner looking at the Gtech airram MK2 K9 and the Shark flexology pet one . I have a hairy dog and a long haired teenager. Thought I would check this forum even though it's not quite your speciality but son always asks on here when he is buying something . Thanks

My rule of thumb is to actually go to a store and go "hands on".

May or may not purchase directly thereafter. No obligation to do so.

You can learn quite a bit about a product by actually seeing and touching it.

Flimsy plastic construction is one thing to look out for.

Or some cheap power/battery charger cord that once unwound for the first time becomes a pretzel of coiled loops thereafter.

Go online and read reviews by both verified purchasers and professional reviewers.

Also go online to the manufacturer's website. Look at the User Guides/Manuals, FAQ, and Forums.

Read the fine print.

Many product specifications (e.g., battery life) are established via ideal conditions. Throw in some shoddy QA and tolerance ranges and performance is likely to fall well below the "marketed" expectations.

In the meantime, some other forum reader may see and read your post. Especially someone who has used a cordless vacuum in an environment such as yours.

On this end, cordless vacuums were only truly effective for quick, light cleanups. Cereal crumbs, tracked in dirt/sand (small amounts), and sawdust/drywall drillings.
