Hi I´ve recently built my new computer:

CPU: i7-8700k
Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
RAM: 2x8 3000Mhz Corsair RAM
MOBO: Asrock z370 extrme 4
PSU: Corsair RM750X
GPU: Old GTX 970
Case: Nox TGX RGB
HDD: 1TB WD
SSD: 240GB Toshiba

It seems like the installation of all components went well. I also applied Arctic MX-4 thermal paste to the processor. Installed a fresh windows 10, and the lights, fans and everything seems to run smooth, with no strange noise. So I downloaded Open Hardware Monitor to see if everything was OK and everything is OK but a core. The 4th core is over 100º, it´s always at 109º. I´m not stressing the CPU, just checking the temps and I think is quite wierd that only one core is at 109º while others are between 20º and 28º. I don´t know if my CPU is bad and I should change it, or if I´ve not applied the thermal paste right... So if anybody could help would be awesome.

Stats from Open HArdware Monitor:

| | +- CPU Core : 28 23.5 52 (/lpc/nct6791d/temperature/0)
| | +- Temperature #1 : 21 21 27 (/lpc/nct6791d/temperature/1)
| | +- Temperature #2 : 20 20 20 (/lpc/nct6791d/temperature/2)
| | +- Temperature #3 : 26 26 26 (/lpc/nct6791d/temperature/3)
| | +- Temperature #4 : 109 108 109 (/lpc/nct6791d/temperature/4)
| | +- Temperature #5 : 28 28 28 (/lpc/nct6791d/temperature/5)
| | +- Temperature #6 : 22 22 22 (/lpc/nct6791d/temperature/6)

Thanks!

Yep you've either got a heat sink seating problem or a thermal paste application problem (or both). Remove the CPU, remove all thermal paste, and start over. Also make sure your cooler is evenly screwed down on all sides. I use a torque screwdriver to ensure even pressure.

Another thought: get a second opinion on temps. Download and install HWiNFO64 just to be sure there's nothing screwy going on with HWMonitor which has been known to not be accurate on certain chipsets.
