why isn't port forwarding working my router is a D-link DIR-859 i have a static ip i went to my router home page the advanced - port forwording clicked add rule put in a name my local ip the TCP and UDP port clicked apply then save when to canyouseeme.org then put in the port i opened it errored so i installed port forward network utilities tried port forwarding through it then i used the port checker on the PFNU it failed so i used the router detector and it says i have 2 routers i only own one is it because my router is producing a 2.4GHz and a 5.0GHz signal? is it because i live in a small town?

edit: i don't believe my isp gave me a modem/router and i have checked my firewall settings nothing should be interfering

Usage: tracert [-d] [-h maximum_hops] [-j host-list] [-w timeout]
[-R] [-S srcaddr] [-4] [-6] target_name

Options:
-d Do not resolve addresses to hostnames.
-h maximum_hops Maximum number of hops to search for target.
-j host-list Loose source route along host-list (IPv4-only).
-w timeout Wait timeout milliseconds for each reply.
-R Trace round-trip path (IPv6-only).
-S srcaddr Source address to use (IPv6-only).
-4 Force using IPv4.
-6 Force using IPv6.

Solution
First "tracert".

Try "tracert 8.8.8.8" (without quotes) Target is Google.

Second "ipconfig /all"

Your router (default gateway) is 192.168.0.1 but your DNS Server is 172.16.1.1

Can you tell us what devices (modems, modem/routers, routers) that you have? I.e., make and models and the connections between them?

I do see that your router is a D-link DIR-859

Does the following link provide the manual for your router:

ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DIR-859/DIR-859_REVA_MANUAL_1.00_EN_US.PDF

If so what, if anything, is connected to the Yellow Port (see Page 4 of the manual) on the router?

Do you have a ISP provided modem or modem/router connected before your D-Link Dir-859?

Are you able to run "tracert" and then "ipconfig /all" (both without quotes)via the Command prompt and post the results?

Normal connectivity usually is:

ISP ----> Modem (or modem/router) ----> router -----> wired devices and /or ~~~~> wireless devices.

Firewalls may also interfere.

More details needed.
