These are the two builds I'm interested in.

Intel Build:
Processor - Intel® Core™ i3-8300
Motherboard - ASUS® PRIME B360M-A, Micro-ATX
GPU - 8GB AMD RADEON™ RX 580
RAM - 8GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR4 2133MHZ (2x4GB)

VS

AMD Build:
Processor - AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Motherboard - ASUS® PRIME A320M-K, Micro-ATX, AM4.
GPU - 8GB AMD RADEON™ RX 580
RAM - 8GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR4 2133MHZ (2x4GB)

Thanks.

It really depends on the specific game. Most games do not use more than 4 cores that would make the faster Intel processor the better choice. In the very few games that can use more than 4 cores then the AMD processor would be the better choice.

For just pure gaming I would get the Intel for gaming and live streaming game play I would get the AMD.

Thanks. Which build would be more future proof? Also, do you think the A320M-K mobo in the AMD build would limit performance?
Would the i3 8300 be able to provide more fps than the 1600 in 1080p gaming?

While I agree with Zerk, however Ryzen build need fast RAM for good performance. 2133 MHz is too slow and will negatively affect 2nd build. And yes, A320 board also limits R1600 a bit. For optimal performance, you would want in 2nd build B350 motherboard and at least 2666 MHz RAM.
I think both builds are quite future proof - they can both be easily upgraded when necessary.

Thank you. Btw would Freesync be compatible with the Intel build?

Yes, all that matters for Freesync (or GSync) is monitor and GPU, CPU has nothing to do with it.

Thank you! I have a Freesync monitor so I'm glad that the CPU doesn't matter.
One more thing, would the i3 8300 provide more fps in 1080p gaming compared to the Ryzen 5 1600? (assuming that I go with the a320 mobo and 2133 MHz RAM)?

Well, 8300? All I know about 8300 are rumors and gossip so can't get any real numbers from anywhere. But again as Zerk mentioned, it depends on game. Game that uses more cores could be faster on Ryzen, games that use 1-2 cores would be faster on Intel.

Thanks for that, and you're right I would have to get faster RAM if I were to go with AMD.
