I have 2 problems with an XP machine on the shop floor used to log in for production activities. After powered down, it requires to go into set up, and then exit to see the hard drive. Then at the login screen, I have to disconnect the ethernet cable to log in, and then reconnect it to access the server.

Solution
Seems like it dropped off whatever domain it was on. When that happens you need to use the locally cached account to logon. At some point that will stop working. Check with your IT department or whoever setup the computers. The setup issue may be because it's old and is having issues keeping the BIOS information. Try a new CMOS battery.
