Advice sought on a new graphics card

Greetings. I have a 4-year old pc which these days I use mainly for gaming. It's still generally fine but in order to fully enjoy the latest games I feel I need to upgrade the graphics card, which is a 2GB AMD Radeon R9 270X. The rig cost me £750 so I don't want to spend a fortune on a really top end card which might require equally costly upgrades to other components. Existing components (which I hope to leave unchanged):
Corsair 550w psu
ASU M5A97 LE R2.0 motherboard
AMD FX-6300 SIX CORE CPU

In order to keep the cost down I'm going to try and install the card myself. Can anyone advise on a new graphics card, probably AMD and which would improve performance without breaking the bank?

These Palit 1060s are some of the only cards priced at MSRP currently. The AMD 400/500 cards are way overpriced but only offer the same performance or less than the 1060. I wouldn't get anything better than a 1060 as your CPU will hold it back, it will probably hold the 1060 back in some cases.

He did say he wanted to stick with AMD, otherwise I would have suggested a 1060 (3GB or 6GB, either would be a performance boost). The 1050 Ti is not enough of an improvement(at least to me) to bother switching up from a R9 270X.

The op said probably AMD, not that it must be AMD.

Thanks to all for the help and the Palit 1060 seems to fit the bill. Sticking with AMD would have cost £40-50 more and I get an extra 2gb. Next step is to explore the inside of my pc and ensure the new one will fit. Thanks again to everyone for their responses.
