how do i overclock an i5 2500k?

so as the title says i have an i5 2500k and i cant oc it...it is my first overclocking but i think that something is in my way....the mobo is a gigabyte h61m-d2-b3...i know its and old cpu and im just trying to squeeze some more juice from it so i can at least play ow at 144fps(ihave an rx470,and ive seen that the cpu is at 80-90% at all times during gameplay)..... im thankfull for anyone answering to this thread!

Overclocking is done in the BIOS of the motherboard. By selecting the multiplier and voltage, one can overclock an unlocked CPU by a certain amount within the limitations of of the chip and other factors like the cooling and power delivery.

With that being said, in order to overclock your 2500k you will need a Z series board. Your H series board does not include an overclocking function in the BIOS. There used to be ways around this but Intel has since put a cork in that loophole.

There are plenty of video tutorials online that would suit you best to learn how to overclock. You need to get a Z series first though.
