Why can I not run BF1 at more than 40 fps on low?

My specs are
i5-6600k @4,1GHz
GTX 1070 Ti
16gb 2133MHz memory

Why does this system only perform around 40-60 fps on low? I have tried almost everything I've found around...
Please help me

BF1 is a CPU heavy game and the 6600k is the minimum CPU requirement. With that being said, I think you should be getting better fps with your system.

Go to userbenchmark.com and run a bench post a link of the results here. It will test all of your hardware and compare it to other entries. It will show if there is a hardware issue.

Make sure the internal resolution isn't cranked up. by default is 100% which is 4k inside the game engine. Most people just move the slider to max not knowing what it does and it won't change with the general Low,Med, High, Ultra presets. I found that out during the beta.

42% is the default which is your native resolution, set it to that.

You can see what resolution the game is rendering at by putting the following command into the console
render.drawscreeninfo 1

However, I have tried the command and it says
Resolution: 1920x1080, scaled to 3840x2160

EDIT:
It only says "resolution, 1920x1080" at 100%
I made a mistake earlier.

Are you talking about at 1080p, 1440p, ir 4k?

100% sure you’re plugged into the gpu and not the iGPU?

At 1080p high you should easily be holding above 100fps, at 1440p high you should be averaging 80+. I was getting around that with an older 3570k@4.3 and a 1070 - you’re faster on both accounts.

Edit: Dice fixed the scaling thing long ago.

Im plugged in by displayport into the graphics card, if that is what you mean by "plugged into the gpu"

Here are some suggestions:
- download OCCT and run the cpu and gou tests - verify that they’re staying at max clock under load and temps are under control

- download DDU and uninstall your GPU drivers in safe mode; then, only install the driver and physx (not experience etc)

- uninstall all unused software; shut down anything not required that’s showing up in systray or task manager

- try setting to max performance in nvidia control panel and windows power settings (set it back to balanced after testing unless that somehow magically triggers things to work right)

Also, has this ever worked as expected and slowed down or a new build?

I'll go ahead and try those.

It worked fine before I switched from GTX 970, now with the 1070 it performs worse. I had the game on SSD before (also with the 1070), and switched over to HDD, no difference.
The build itself is just over 2 years of age

Your background processes are at 21% of your CPU capacity. That is really higher considering BF1 is a CPU intense game. You need to have as much of your CPU resources available for BF1. Your basically taking one of your cores away for the game and you only have 4 threads. I would go to your task manager and end the processes that your using your CPU resources when gaming. You can also update the programs that automatically start when the system boots.

The GPU is under no load whatsoever, 50C, fanspeed at max 20... So the problem seems to be the CPU, but can it be THAT bad?

I don’t think it’s your cpu. If it’s hitting its specified clockspeed, it’s working.

What happens if you put the old gpu back in?

What is the make/model/age of your PSU?

That should work fine, tho not the greatest psu.

At this point I would try to borrow a known-good 1070 and see what happens. Failing that, maybe a local shop could test one out?

If neither of those, RMA the card.

Those are unfortunately not options for me. The card is under 1½ month old, and as I told earlier, it doesnt come under any load and it performs perfectly everywhere else, its only Battlefield I am having troubles with

Are you gaming with wi fi? Is physx setting in nvidia CP set to gpu? WiFi is horrible for bf1 I have found get an ethernet cable if you haven't already. And your cpu is plenty for bf1 I used to play on i5 2400 and I was getting nearly 60fps with 1050ti so you should be able to get it to work with your rig
