Trying to nail down my networking issue.

I almost posted this on top of another's question but figured I would start a new one so was not hijacking it.

Few things first.
I live in a 2 story house and my WIFI is on the upper floor. My media box is on the main floor maybe 60-70 feet away as the crow flies. In between, there is the floor, vaulted ceiling and another ceiling. (Long horrid story.) So quite a bit.
I have 100 MB WIFI through Charter and my router is a Netgear3000. Here is my router.

Here is my media box and I know for a fact that it is a big part of my issue.

Here is my laptop.

I ran ARNu Box speed test on the media box, my laptop downstairs, my laptop in my office and then on the desktop that is plugged directly into my router.

Desktop 110MBs which is typical
Laptop in office 48 or so
Laptop right beside media box 41
Media box 18.

I am pretty happy I did not lose more by running from upper floor to lower floor, but any idea why my net is cut in half even with me right beside my router? Is my router the main culprit? Should I expect speeds close to what my laptop is churning out with an Invidia Sheild as looking to do a major upgrade?
I am just not sure where to continue troubleshooting.
Thanks very much in advance! :)

Product TitleNETGEAR Powerline 1000 Mbps, 1 Gigabit Port (PL1000-100PAS)
I think I will run to Walmart, ugh, to grab one and test it out. Hopefully, this will solve my issues.
Thank you very much for your time.

"Product description
Style:Wired
The Powerline 1000 extends your wired network at 1 Gbps speeds with home plug AV2. It’s perfect for connecting Smart TVs, streaming players and game consoles for HD video streaming and lag-free gaming. It sets up in minutes and Push-and-Secure encrypts the Powerline network connections with the touch of a button."

That is in the product description, am I reading it wrong?
I just do not know much about Trendnet, as only have used Linksys and Netgear in the past.

I didn't see the AV2 designation when I looked on NetGear's website. If the box says AV2, then I would believe it. A third party description may not be completely accurate.

I would like to thank you very much for your awesome help. I did buy the Trendnet TPL-420E2K. I tested it first on my laptop plugged it in the same room. 92 on the speed test. So took my laptop down and plugged the powerline into the outlet I plan on using. Tested it again and came up with 59 and 58. Plugged my media box in and tested it. BAM!!! Again 58 and 59. Even better than I expected. Was worried because the wiring upstairs is old while the wiring downstairs is few years old.
This hopefully alleviates all my frustration. Thank you very much for your help. :)
