How do I set up programs to install to a drive other than the OS one

Can I install the OS (Win7 64bit) in a 30-40gb partition, and keep all programs and folders in another 110-120gb partition of the same drive? How would I set it up so things would download to the D: drive and more importantly, programs that install to the AppData directory, how would I keep them from filling up the C: drive?

1. No. A 30-40GB partition is WAY too small.
Win 7 will, after updates, consume at least 45GB.
You need a drive/partition of 100GB or more, for some breathing room.

2. You can't cause applications to automagically install to a different drive or partition. You can choose where during the install, but you can't force them to always install elsewhere.

In the event of an OS reinstall, you have to reinstall the applications anyway.
