The Dell Optiplex 780 has stopped working. I first got the error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and when I went into Diagnostics I received error code 2000-0152. I tried to go into Safe Mode and it kept freezing up on CLASSPNP.SYS so I renamed it to CLASSPNP.OLD. That caused the network lights and lights 1, 2, and 3 to go solid green. I made sure that the CD-ROM was in place on the motherboard and I re-installed Windows and updated the drivers and chipset. It worked for a little while then I got another BSOD with error code 0x0000007E. So I'm not sure what else can be done, if anything.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from mrallanson : "Dell Optiplex 790 Has Died"

I think the motherboard on my Dell OptiPlex 790 has died. The 1, 2, 3 lights came on. I cannot boot up the computer. I changed the CMOS battery and I re-seated the RAM but nothing happened. I want to know if it's truly gone or if there is something else I could do.

It's a 790. I unplugged everything and I disconnected the hard drives. I waited a while and put everything back together. When I turned it on, it started up, then it shut itself off for about 5 seconds, then it came back on, and the 1, 2, 3 lights came on.

Right now the machine is up and running.

I re-installed the hard drive and after it did its POST test, it said "Boot drive not found." I restarted the machine and went into BIOS and reset the boot order. I restarted it and it went back to normal. I still don't know what caused the problem in the first place but at least I have some ideas on what to do if something like that happens again.

You can also try hitting F8 repeatedly while booting to get into Safe Mode. I like having a Linux Live DVD around and the BIOS set for boot from DVD. It's just about bullet proof against malware, and you can view files on the Windows partition without the Malware being able to run. You can even get on the internet with no HDD connected. It's slow but effective .I've had ransomware load while running like that (no HDD)and a simple reboot and it's like never happened. LMAO
