Will my GA-AB350N Gaming Wifi get to POST if the bios is not updated for Raven Ridge?

So I bought a GA-AB350N Gaming Wifi and a Ryzen 5 2400G. I am aware that the board's BIOS might not be compatible and I'm aware that AMD sends out boot kits for the update procedure.

I wanted to try and see if my board was updated however, but when I press the power button the CPU fan starts, there is a single flash from the LEDs from underneath (?) the board, but nothing happens on the screen. The CPU fan keeps spinning and the LED on the keyboard is on, so there is some life there, but no beep or nothing that resembles an error code.

I would have expected to see some message about incompatible CPU or something, so my question is really if someone might confirm that this is indeed expected behavior when booting the motherboard with an unsupported CPU in the current BIOS?

Many thanks!

Solution
POST happens no matter what (unless BIOS chip is erased). An incompatible CPU will cause an error and POST will not continue past that certain test.

Again, ask AMD or your retailer for an AMD Raven Ridge Boot Kit and update the BIOS.

Yeah that's the thing, I'm not seeing anything at all, so I'm wondering If something else might be wrong.

I can't find anything on the flashing RGB LED on the Gigabyte site.

Some kind of error code would have been useful there.

Thanks, I will!

I guess my error here is to assume that POST = "Something displayed on my screen", but I guess that doesn't have to be the case!

Thanks again! :)
