So I have this motherboard https://www.asus.com/ie/Motherboards/Z97P/specifications/ (Asus Z97-P S1150 Intel Z97 DDR3 ATX) and I currently have Corsair 8GB (2 x 4GB) Vengeance Pro Black DDR3 1866MHz CL9 ram installed.

So firstly, I want to upgrade to 16gb of ram. Is the second dual channel worst than the first, i.e would I be better off getting 2 8gb sticks rather than 4 4gb sticks? Secondly, I cannot seem to find my original ram online, hence I would probably have to mix and match (which I'm not sure is bad or not, or would even work), so I would appreciate any recommendation for 2 more 4gb sticks, or even better a link to the original ram that can I buy again.

Mixing and matching ram is frowned upon, but if you must, try to get ram with the exact same timings.

By second dual channel I assume you mean the other 2 slots of ram on your motherboard.

Some motherboards don't support the same timings when all ram slots are filled due to voltage issues.

Your motherboard, being an enthusiasts, should have no problem supporting 4 ram modules at 1866MHz.

Having said that, you should select ram that is on the qualified vendor list QVL.

Be sure to find one with the exact same timings as your current

Actually on second look, this list appears to be updated for most recent ram released, my manufacturers code is CMY8GX3M2A1866C9, whereas under the 1866mhz listing there is no cl9 one.
