Hello my friends, a not-so-tech-savvy person here. Looking to replace my ancient ATI Radeon HD 4800 graphics card (actually, my whole setup is pretty old, except my PSU). I was thinking about the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, but I would like to consider your suggestions, with a focus on affordability and casual PC gaming. Thank you for your input!

¤ CPU = AMD Athlon(tm) 7750 Dual-Core Processor (2.71GHz)
¤ RAM = 4.00 GB
¤ HDD = Seagate 7200RPM 32MB Cache 3.5" Internal (640GB)
¤ SSD = Crucial M4 7mm (128GB)
¤ OS = Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
¤ PSU = 650W
¤ Motherboard = not sure... it's definitely dated. ACPI x64-based PC
¤ Budget = $100-200, preferably

Solution
A GTX 1050 Ti would not run well on that system. The entire system should really be upgraded. I would get a Ryzen 2400G, AM4 motherboard, and 8GB of RAM. Those 3 things would cost around 300USD. The integrated GPU in the 2400g is as good as an entry level GT 1030 and you also would get a way better processor as well. Even with a GTX 1070 you would have bad performance with an Athlon dual core.
That platform is way too old to support any recent card. Anything over a gtx1030 is a waste of money and resource. You can get a 1050/1050ti, which you can carry forward to the next build, but it will be severely gimped by your CPU, which isnt a bad thing though.

Sorry for the double post but if you are looking for an AM4 motherboard that supports Ryzen 2400G without BIOS update needed this one does: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157761&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= It comes in ATX and Micro ATX sizes.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2400G 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor ($162.79 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock - AB350 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard ($86.49 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($91.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $341.27

this build is $340 but the motherboard works with the CPU out of the box and the RAM is the ideal speed for the processor and is dual channel. Later on you could add any video card you want and it would run unhindered.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Sorry for the late response, but if I may ask, is this Ryzen 5 2400G what we call an APU? I'm quite new to this ;)

With that being said, do you think that it can handle a game that requires something along the lines of a GTX 560, GTX 660 or slightly better? And since you mention that I can add a video card on top of it, would even a dated one still be useful, in theory?
